The further advantage of paragons is their ability to sit in the frontline and lob spears into the enemy monks without ever overextending. Cruel spear is underrated, imo.

With skills like searing flames or mind blast, I think the DPS capability of an elementalist is there. The problem, as has always been, is reliability. As you say, a melee is still mildly effective without any attack skills on the bar. Caster classes lack that utility. More conjure lightning wanding, imo?

Eles have one big problem that all offensive casters when it comes to versatility and it's skill slots. Nearly all offensive casters need 2 slots dedicated to emanagement unless they use an elite for it. So while any kind of physical has 7-8 skill slots to actually do something, an Elementalist has 5 in general (one being attunement and one GoLE). And this leaves very little room for versatility in one build.
I honestly believe that offensive casters would require much better innate energy regen, even if they have to do something like WoW (say during cast time and aftercast you're not regening so that you can't chain-cast forever). But the big problem for something like this is the dual class system.

I do from time to time, it's still a great read, makes me think of the best time of the game, just as factions was released.

It's a bit outdated though, with VoD having come and gone, aswell as the introduction of MoI, MB, aura of restoration (the pro one) and many other skills.
The essence is still very true, that warriors outclass eles on raw damage, but the practical situation has changed alot. Compared to prophecies/factions days, Eles have alot more splitability now (more than a warrior as opposed to the other way around pre-NF) and with flagging being ever so important, a fire ele can easily hit up to 4-5 people per rodgorts at certain points during the match.
Good read, but doesn't depict how Guild Wars works at this very moment. Partially why GW has become so shit, I gues...

My intent was more so that new people would learn and appreciate Ensign's posts. Guru2 would seriously do with a dose of them.

The one about low energy sets is also gold, and remains as relevant today as ever. Might I suggest it as another candidate to be stickied?
